How do I learn to rebuild a car?

I’m looking for resources for a beginner interested in Car Repair. My dream is to buy an old car and rebuild it myself. I know very very little about cars. Does anyone know good books or websites where I can learn basic information about car engines, parts to the engine, how it works and so on? I plan on looking into taking classes at local community college but want to do some independent learning before I go that route.
